Punt Road 2013 Chemin Pinot Noir (Yarra Valley)

Herbal and stemmy (100% whole-bunch fermented), this is a bit of an outlier in the world of Australian Pinot Noir. It’s light to medium in weight, with gentle tannins and tart cherry fruit. Oak takes the form of mocha on the finish. My initial impression was “simple but appealing,” but upon reflection perhaps it just needs more time to show its stuff.
